I Hast Fambly

Well, I did have them, two of them, from about 2:45 until 8:15. And it was wonderful. I love my family. We went and picked up some necessities- laundry detergent, shampoo, etc. And then we went to dinner together, and it was wonderful. Here's a quick but funny story. We were at the store and Dad asked me if I needed dryer sheets. I asked, "Why would I need dryer sheets?" He told me it would reduce static and make my clothes softer. Who needs soft clothes, and I have anti-static spray. I told him not to worry. He told me not to be stubborn and that he would just go run and get a box. Well, whatever. So we buy them, and we get back to my dorm, I was unpacking the few groceries. When I take them out of the bag, I realize hey, wait a minute. I don't even use the dryer. What on earth am I going to do with them? I only ever hang my clothes on the line. Great. Silly me.
Love and kisses to everyone,

How many languages can you say "smile" in? (the noun) Here are a few:
Spanish: sonrisa
French: sourire
Simplified Mandarin: 笑(xiao)
Estonian: naeratus
Italian: sorriso
Romanian: favoare
Irish Gaelic: miongháire

The corresponding titles for my blog? (Some of these may be off, my apologies. Feel free to correct)
sonrisas y cosas bonitas
sourire et de jolies choses
笑和很漂亮的东西 (xiao he hen piaoliang de donxi)
naeratus ja ilusad asjad
sorrisi e grazioso cose
favoare şi lucruri destul de
miongháire agús gleoite deas giuirléidí

Think about it a bit. Some people want a universal language, but I think they're off their rockers. They must be people who hated their Spanish teachers or something, because I can't understand their conviction. Anyways. Yay us! We don't have one language.
I hope this link works for you for some giggles.
Love and kisses,

Where Have I Been?

February is the worst month. It drags by without anything fantastic happening, unless you count boatloads of work, which I don't. I somehow always manage to post my pictures in the wrong order. I recently braided my hair in to 35 little braids- not tiny, but smallish. Then I braided them all into one big braid, which looked awesome. And today, I took them out, and the result is the top picture- a very punk look on me, that pets like a poodle. It's been snowing all day here, and it's beautiful, of course. I much prefer it to the freezing cold days where it's just gray. I have accomplished something not very useful in the last however many days. In one try, I taught myself how to French braid, and have had a few different heads to try it on. I love doing it, and it looks great. The only problem is, when trying to French braid one's own hair, your arms get extremely tired. I never manage to finish one on my own head, which is the only reason I wanted to learn how to do it. Sad sad. Last night I took my roommate and two friends- so, get this, a northern US dweller, a nothern China dweller, a southern US dweller, and a southern China dweller- to dinner at the Golden Wok, a small Chinese restaurant. And it was an adventure. We got to the shuttle station ten minutes early, and the shuttle was a bit late. When it got there it was a tiny fifteen person shuttle, and there were 40 of us waiting for it. We didn't make it on, of course, but the guy said he would make a second trip. So the second time, the three of my friends made it on, and I had a hold of SL's hoody, but the guy shut the door on us. So my friends got off and we waited for the last round. By that time he was late to take people to another town, but he took us anyways. And we ate dinner, which was wonderful and inexpensive and accompanied with chopsticks and fortune cookies and Chinese conversation about China. And then, the guy hadn't known when he'd make a trip back to pick people up... So... There were all these people who'd been waiting to be picked up but were freezing, so they came in the restaurant to sit and warm up, since the pick up is usually right outside the Wok. I was the first one to see his return, so I stood, hissed "Shuttle!" to my friends, and the shop was empty so fast that I'm sure the little Chinese lady's head is still spinning as she tries to figure out where everyone went. We all dashed through the parking lot beside the restaurant to get to the shuttle. Thank goodness my friends and I were the first ones on. I've never had so much fun trying to get food. There were a lot of smiles and breathless laughter going on last night. And now, my friends, I'm out of time to talk to you. But I love you all and wish you a wondergul evening!

On The Advantages of Being One of KSMs Friends on Valentine's Day

You can't tell from the pictures, but the sweethearts are actually Corazones Dulces. The boxes are all in Spanish, and so are the hearts! I couldn't resist. And the cards have tiny little tattoos with them. So cute!!!! Can't wait to give them out....
Happy (early) Valentine's Day

Where Did She Go?????

Some of my friends, from the small party we had for CO in our dorm. BF baked a cake and we frosted it and got friends together. Happy days, happy days.
The last one is of me, from the day I was what everyone called "the gypsy."
Where did I go? I have been studying Chinese, working out, sleeping, eating, and reading homework. And that's just about it. That and mailing an insane number of things. I finally set up an amazon sellers account, and found this really cool other website. Check it out!!!! You post what books, dvds, cds, and video games you have that you want to trade, and make a list of the things you want, and the website starts sending you information about trades you can make with a zillion people. The website gets no money, they just get you information for shipping if you confirm the trade. You take it to the post office, pay postage, and receive your package. All you pay for something you want is postage. It's awesome. And it works. I've already received two books and sent two. I've got another thing to mail tomorrow. And my amazon is also going well. Oh, how I love being econimically and environmentally friendly all in one easy step. And seriously, registration for swaptree is so easy. Make a screenname, give them an e-mail and make a password. They mean it when they say eight seconds. So easy. You can even do cool three way trades.
Life is good!
Tomorrow: on the perks of being one of KSMs single friends on V-Day.
Sincerely and with my deepest affection to all,

The Trip To China

Auntie asked for more details. Of course it's instructional, as I'm going through Bard. The Intensive Chinese class I'm rolled in has an optional extra 4 credits if you go to China and study at the end of the semester. We will be going as a class, and studying at Qingdao University in Qingdao, China. We leave near the end of May, spend about four or five days touring Beijing, and then head back to school. Classes are all morning, in the afternoon you have a tutorial with a private tutor. There are optional martial arts classes, and mandatory art classes: either painting or calligraphy. We are going to do a one week homestay, and if the family invites us to, we're allowed to stay with them the entire eight weeks we're at school. Other than that, we stay in dorms. There are also weekly field trips to cool places, which is wicked awesome. What else? I certainly hope Dad will agree to let me stay an extra week and a half or two, so CO and I can go visit a few friends and SL. If I'm not alone it should be okay, but we'll see.

Abuse! Abuse! There's this evil girl who lives in my body and is abusing me!!!!! She gets up at seven thirty and gets ready and has breakfast and goes to class... And from then on, she does nothing but study and have class until eleven thirty or midnight (that and go to the gym for a half hour and cause various assortments of leg pains, and of course eating meals). Abuse!!!!!!! The plus side? She'll be put to rest tomorrow at six. Tomorrow's a long day. Medieval Ireland, lunch, Chinese, French, Chinese. Today was dominated by Chinese, and so I am having many problems switching back to speaking English in and outside of my head.
Gotta go prepare the next lesson's vocab.
Love you all
and talk soon

KSM Is Mad At Her Camera

So, I took 55 pictures at the party, and twenty minutes of great video of terrible singing along to Avril Lavigne, and somewhere between camera and computer, all the pictures and video are gone. I stole these three pics from a friend. Someone took a group photo of all of us, and I'll get that picture and post it tomorrow.
There were about fifteen of my friends in attendance. We played apples to apples, which is the most fun game, listened to music, took pictures, sang, ate, and came up with the most ridiculous sexual innuendos. Nobody has ever had that much fun in Wolff before, I think, this being the quiet dorm. Guests were provided with wheat thins, forty spice hummus, hershey's chocolate, hershey's chocolate with almonds, nestle's chocolate, goldfish, rice cakes, banana chips, green grapes, colby-jack cheese, blue corn chips, salsa, and chocolate chip cookies. So much fun. No boys allowed, of course. I never knew you could fit so many people in half of a dorm room and still have room to get to the desk, but it's possible.
Love and kisses,
